    Highly recommend Grand Design. We hired Sam and team to install a brick border around our front landscaping as well as add mulch, stone, and pine straw in certain areas. The job turned out great and really added to our curb appeal. Sam was so easy to work with. He'd respond to calls, showed up on time, and followed through on everything. If you've ever worked with some other companies or contractors, this isn't usually the case. Additionally, Sam and team were courteous, knowledgeable, and fair when it came to pricing.     We had Sam and his crew repair our paver steps and railing in front, repair our paver patio in back, and construct a railing and fire pit with cover for the patio.     We hired Sam to replace cracked/missing grout in our front walk as well as repair our stone steps and terraced planting beds. The repair work was done well and the rebuilt planting beds look great! While rebuilding the beds, Sam took extra steps to ensure proper drainage to prevent future problems. Sam and Carlos were hard-working, easy to work with, and did an excellent job. We highly recommend and would hire them again.

    Sam and Grand Design did a great job repairing my stone patio. The patio was sinking due to poor workmanship with the original installation. I know it can be a real pain to correct someone else’s mess, but Sam did it and for a reasonable price. In addition to the patio repair, Sam created a design for our fence row, purchased the mix of shrubs and grasses, and did all of the planting. This is the second time we have used Grand Design and we will definitely be using them again.

He actually came by our previous home and gave us not just a quote, but suggestions, feedback and budgeting pointers. He did the same with our current home. He was accommodating to some changes without hassling us over price. He was fair and willing to help with things beyond the agreed scope of work.     Sam at The Grand Designs earned a five-star review from me and my family! Our yard had three problem areas and he solved each one. He extended our downspouts with river rock, so water now drains away without washing out mulch. He added a stone and concrete threshold at each fence gate where clay from the neighbor’s yard kept piling up, which fixed the sticky gate and the mess. He also removed compacted clay around the patio and brought in quality soil, so the grade is right and the space looks finished. Sam and his team were punctual, respectful of our property, communicated clearly, and left the site tidy each day. After the first heavy rain, everything worked exactly as promised. I'm happy to recommend The Grand Designs to anyone in Garner and the greater Raleigh area!

    I’d actually give them a 4.5/5. Sam and his team did beautiful work for us. We are extremely happy with the final result. His team was professional and kind and did extra little jobs around the yard like weeding our flower beds which we were so grateful for. The reason I am choosing to give a 4.5 instead of a 5 is simply because they didn’t have a set schedule and weren’t great about communicating when they would show up to work. They showed up at random times in the morning, probably because they were grabbing supplies? But sometimes would show up as late as 10am, then only be able to work for an hour or so before the rain put a pause on their work. What was supposed to only take 3-5 days ended up taking closer to 3 weeks due to lots of starts and stops. If you choose to go with these guys, which I definitely would recommend, you’ll just have to be flexible with their timing and be able to work around weather. Overall, we are very satisfied with the final result and would likely hire them again for another project!

    We wanted to love our backyard and have a great entertaining space. I used Google to find someone who could bring my ideas to life and we are so happy that it led us to Sam with Grand Design. Full transparency, we got another bid from a different company and they were not as knowledgeable or creative as what Sam was bringing to the table. He gave us a full catalog on inspiration/materials that he can use, which was appreciated to see all the different options we had. He assured us the quality of his work and advised again and again that if something ever looked off to contact him so he can fix it. Sam and his team really stand by their work and they take the time to get the details right. His creativity and idea suggestions were awesome and we absolutely LOVE the finished product. I hope everyone in our neighborhood asks for Sam to come out and give him business! lol We plan on putting in a paver walk way on the side of our house in the future, and we won’t go with anyone but Sam and Grand Designs.     Sam did great work on our back yard. The transformation was exactly what we had hoped for. He turned a severely sloped back yard into a functional outdoor space by incorporating a two tier wall to build up the slope to meet a level plane that now ties into our patio area. The wall consists of a lower level of boulders that builds up to a clean block wall with stone caps to finish. The full length is around ~200 linear feet. He also built in a set of custom steps entering into the patio and added another half wall to the side of the house to transition into the back yard and create a better water run off and drainage path. He matched the stone caps to the back perimeter wall so all the materials are consistent for both walls. Sam was very flexible with our design and worked very hard to incorporate all the details we were looking for! We will definitely contact Sam for future work!

    We had a very steep hill in our front yard. The area was tired and very unattractive. We wanted a front yard "wow" and that's what we got! Sam was very creative in designing a series of curved walls that really accented the space. Besides the cosmetic side, the construction was solid with good drainage provisions. He was very conscientious in all the details and making sure we were happy with the results. He made a few tweaks along the way without any issue. Easy to work with and strives for happy customers.     Our downspout extensions leading to our french drains were horribly cracked and constantly leaking so we desperately needed them replaced. I saw Sam and his crew working on french drains in the neighborhood so I stopped and asked if he would come provide a quote. He came over right after he was done with that job for the day and his quote seemed more than fair. It didn't take long for him to get us scheduled and his workmanship was top-notch. After the first rainstorm, we noticed one of them was still leaking water so he quickly came by and remedied the situation. They are now all working perfectly. Highest of recommendations from me and if I ever can use his services again, he will be the only call I make!

    Sam helped with a landscaping project around an ADU we built in our side yard. His execution was excellent and he was very thoughtful with his plant selection to accommodate our desire for a low maintenance outdoor space. His pricing is transparent and he was quick to point out where he could tweak the project to reduce the total cost. He sourced a particular tree we wanted, and he even did some research on “chicken resistant” plants to ensure our hens didn’t destroy all his hard work. Lastly, he was willing to take out a dead limb on an oak tree for less than the tree guys quoted. I highly recommend Sam’s services.

    I needed someone to help me plant three young magnolia trees. Sam was one of the few landscapers. I contacted, who actually followed through. We had good communication, he gave me a fair price, showed up on time, was friendly and polite, and did the work quickly and well.     After debating if I wanted to lay pavers down myself or getting a company to do it I reached out to grand design to get a quote. Sam responded to me right away and after letting him know the scale of work I was looking for he gave me a price that I was happy with. I am VERY pleased with the work that him and the guys did. Super professional and got it done in the time that they said they would. Sam kept me up to date on things and answered any questions I had throughout the process. I’m always nervous when hiring someone I don’t know, due to not knowing the quality of work but going with these guys was a great decision and I’m glad I did. Sam gave me his recommendation when I asked for it and helped me make a couple decisions in the project when I was looking for guidance.
